Fine Wine Specialist - San Francisco

Position Description:

This position will be responsible for achieving fine wine sales objectives as directed by Wine Warehouse sales management.
 
The position will involve working effectively with sales representatives, Regional Managers, supplier representatives and category managers as well as working independently to expand Wine Warehouse’s distribution of our fine wine portfolio in the Northern California market. This assignment requires knowledge of and the ability to execute sales to both Fine Wine focused accounts and general market accounts.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; other duties may be assigned or requested:

 

  • Directs sales effort(s) of company products in existing and new territories visiting 8-10 customers daily.
  • Develops and maintains productive business relationships with new and existing market as it relates to category-specific products.
  • Follows all ABC (Alcoholic Beverage Control) compliance regulations.
  • Accurately quotes prices and availability of Wine Warehouse products to customers.
  • Facilitates product sales of assigned items while meeting monthly and yearly sales objectives and other initiative requirements as determined by Wine Warehouse sales management.
  • Collaborates with Wine Warehouse’s supplier partners on behalf of assigned sales objectives
  • Assists in organizing Product Sales Events and appointments with customers for visiting Import suppliers.
  • Develops new business and new accounts by prospecting. Works with Regional Manager to coordinate these efforts.
  • Attends all monthly team and general sales meetings, including educational seminars. Will assist in developing educational programs and seminars for sales reps. 
  • Plans, designs, and conducts, in collaboration with customers, educational presentations such as consumer wine dinners.
  • Reviews and is responsible for product sales transactions, including accurate pricing.
  • Investigates thoroughly any customer complaints to ensure satisfactory resolution as quickly as possible.
  • Responsible for timely responses (within 24 hours) to all communications within the company or with outside business resources.
  • Promote and demonstrate fine wine knowledge to increase import sales in prestigious restaurants and retails accounts in the Northern California region.

 

Job Requirements:

 

  • Must possess superior knowledge of Import and Domestic wine, with the ability to communicate and present to specialty as well as mass market customers.
  • Progressive sales experience, preferably in the beverage industry.
  • Four-year college degree or equivalent.
  • Strong business, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to make a strong business case without “over-selling”
  • Innovative thinker and proactive performer.
  • Highly adaptable and comfortable with change.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to doing it “the right way” with great attention to detail and high personal standards.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English. Additional language skills helpful but not required.
  • Reside in Northern California preferably within the region.
  • Proficient in MS Word and Excel. Must be internet savvy.
