Spirits Specialist - San Francisco, CA

Well-established distributor of fine wines, handcrafted beers & spirits seeking an Spirits Specialist with Extensive Product Knowledge covering the following area(s):

Position Description:

Provides support and assistance to associates for the purpose of enhancing the Company’s spirits business.  The primary responsibility will be to develop new opportunities for the Wine Warehouse spirits portfolio.  Focus will be on assisting senior management in the achievement of Company goals and objectives through field work with their associates, educational seminars, sales training, sales coordination, new account openings, and new product placements.  This position reports to the Director of Spirits.

 

  • Assists in the professional development of individual sales representatives, carefully monitoring and reviewing their progress.
  • Responsible for the sales execution of key spirit initiatives in the top 75 – 100 spirits accounts in territory
  • Assists in the achievement of monthly and quarterly goals assigned as established by the Company in conjunction with Suppliers’ initiatives.
  • Responsible for the execution of promotional programs with Sales management and suppliers as directed by company management.
  • Teams with Sales management working with them to accomplish new product training, incentive opportunities, product presentation for key accounts and the development of new accounts.
  • Assists in staff trainings and seminars as directed by Company management.
  • Works with assigned suppliers on scheduled “ride withs” as directed by Company management.
  • Assists in the development of key on sale and off sale accounts as directed by Company management.
  • Responsible for product training sessions and seminars with on and off-sales groups
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining on going relationships with key mixology customers as directed by Company management

Position Requirements:

  • Extensive knowledge in all distilled spirit categories
  • On-sale channel experience is required
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a 4 year college or university; one or two years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 2 years sales experience in spirit sales.
  • Superb management and organizational skills
  • Strong business, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Computer literate – proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English
  • Progressive job experience resulting in multi-faceted responsibilities
